Writer's Block: It Sounds Better When You Say It
11:17am 07/06/2009

Cynthia

No matter what language you speak, you've probably come across words or phrases in another language that sound better than their equivalents in your native tongue. What's your favorite word or phrase in a foreign language?

View 507 Answers

I'm taking French in high school and there are so many things that I just love the way they sound or what they literally translate to in English.  Deja vu has always been a favorite of mine. I also like je t'aime, which is I love you in French. I like many others too, but I guess I'll go with those for now. :)

How many different places (cities, houses, apartments, dorm rooms, etc.) have you lived in? Which is your favorite? And your least favorite?

View 503 Answers

Alaska, Indiana, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, California, and Georgia. So I have lived in at least 7 different states, but I've lived in a lot more houses than that! My favorite I would say is Texas and I guess my least favorite would be Indiana. But I don't really remeber it.

Have you ever met or known someone who has the same name as you (first and last) but is not a relative?

Not me, but I know there was another person with the same name as my sister and we used to get mail for someone who had to same first and last name as my dad but with a different middle name.

So that Writer's Block the other day about the recurring dreams totally caused me to have a third dream about driving. Not cool.

Writer's Block: You Ate What?

Cynthia

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? Would you eat it again?

View 501 Answers

Well it's not really weird, but last night French club (which I am a part of) went to a French restaurant and I ate escargot. And it actually wasn't that bad. The sauce it was in was really good. My French told me the trick is to only chew it like 3 times, then swallow. I guess I would eat it again.

Writer's Block: Dream On

Do you ever have recurring dreams? If so, are they good dreams or nightmares?

View 501 Answers

There's only been one dream I've had that I've had twice. And it was a nightmare. It was when I was first learning to drive and I had dreams where I would press on the brake pedal, but it would be working like the gas pedal. So I would be driving really fast (on my own with no adult in the passenger's seat), unable to stop. In one of the dreams I was driving up a steep hill and when I got to the top I started going backwards. In the second dream I had I actually crashed the car. So yeah, I kinda don't like driving!

Writer's Block: Get Real

What reality show would you most want to be a contestant on? What would your strategy for winning be?

View 500 Answers

This is a good question. I would like to be a contestant on either Survivor or Amazing Race. For Survivor I would make sure to have a good alliance and be a strong player so I could win individual immunity after the merge. :) And I would also not annoy anyone so they'll vote for me in the end. Lol. For Amazing Race I woul have to be partnered with my sister, because although we do fight sometimes, we work really well together. I'd also try to learn at least a little bit of several languages.

If you were in trouble or ran afoul of the law, which fictional detective or investigator—from tv, movies, or books—would you want to help you?

Nancy Drew definitely! Unless it could be solved with math, then Don, Charlie, and the rest of the team from Numb3rs!

When you're stuck in a boring class or meeting, what's your favorite way to keep yourself entertained (or at least from falling asleep)?

View 500 Answers

I either doodle, write stories, or just think of the stories in my head. Or if I'm in math, then my friend I will type notes to each other back and forth on our calculators. :)

Do you prefer texting or talking on the phone?

View 502 Answers

Definitely texting. I just don't like talking on the phone. I think that's cause I can't do anything else when I'm on the phone. I mean, I can multi-task at other things, but when I'm talking on the phone, that's all I can do. Because otherwise I get really distracted and don't pay attention to what the person was saying. It's just easier for me to text.

Writer's Block: More Island Time

You're packing your bag for that other desert island—the one with no electricity—what 5 books do you take with you?

Submitted By [info]mika_uriah

View 501 Answers

Now that is a very hard question. Just 5 books?! Well, I guess it would be Nancy Drew Files #75 A Talent For Murder by Carolyn Keene, Nancy Drew Files #24 Till Death Do Us Part, Small Steps by Louis Sachar, one of the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson, and after that I would not be able to choose. Either an Avalon: Web of Magic book by Rachel Roberts, a Twitches book by HB Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld, Island of the Aunts by Eva Ibbotson, something by Kathryn Reiss, and more... That would be a really hard decision.

If you could ask your pet any question (and they could answer you), what would it be?

I would ask my two cats several things 1) Do you love me and are happy to live here? 2) Why do you hate water? 3) Do you love or hate the music I play or do you not care? Always wondered what they thought of music.
